Ready to meet the best version of your brand?
Why hire a human writer these days? The answer’s the same as it ever was: we think in ways that help others feel.
Real writing is not about producing the right words. It’s a matter of alchemy, of using words in ways that build bonds between strangers. That’s copy.
You can ask ChatGPT to account for alchemy, and it’ll try; it just can’t succeed as well as someone who’s alive.
That someone can ask ChatGPT to produce a template, refine a logo sketch, recommend a process, translate a post. I do these sorts of things, and they can be very helpful.
But if you are looking for a tagline that will get stuck in people’s heads, or imagery that will resonate for years, or a breakthrough in your relationship with the people who know your brand, it’s about trust, and trust is in the gut. The physical gut. So you’re gonna need a language processor who has one of those. Somebody who’s had a bad swim lesson, or seen the sun rise over ____, or taken off their shoes in public. We need a lot less water per request, too.
Very Professional Bio
Real live human copywriter. Elder millennial. Survivor of stuff.
I live in San Francisco and I’ve been writing copy since two financial crises ago. I leverage my poetry degree every time I write a tagline. These days I am also a reiki practitioner, so my creative consultations come with a complimentary side of positive life energy.
I love short-term and part-time projects. My ideal role is what I call a Mary Poppins: give me a year and I’ll make your brand its very best self, and then I’ll leave you with a plan your team can execute with total confidence.
